Left-hand-drive cars can be great value, but check these before any money changes hands.
Paperwork: ask whether the car is already UK registered. If it is still on foreign plates, ask for the foreign registration document, proof of ownership and any import papers, and find out what registering it here will involve.
Test certificate: a French CT or Spanish ITV shows the car passed its last inspection abroad, but it is not a UK MOT.
Headlights: left-hand-drive headlights dip the wrong way for UK roads. Check whether they have been adjusted or need beam deflectors.
Speedometer: make sure it shows mph, or at least has an mph scale.
Insurance: get a quote before you buy. Some insurers price left-hand-drive cars differently.
